At Delta Energy Solutions our focus is on the design and installation of a full turnkey renewable energy systems. See how you can benefit with Solar Power for Commercial Use for your business.
Therefore in this article we will attempt to highlight a few things. Consequently, you and your business should consider when it comes to Solar Power for Commercial Use.
Is a solar electric power system right for you?
The best way to tell is to call us here at Delta Energy Solutions. Have us go through a free, no obligation preliminary site evaluation and proposal. As a result, our Solar Power Commercial Use experts will come to your business. We will survey the site, answer your questions. And as a result prepare a proposal for the installation of your solar power system.
Most importantly since 1954, Solar Energy as a technology has evolved. Solar power systems now provide incredibly attractive financial benefits. Certainly for agricultural, commercial and industrial businesses. See how Solar Power Commercial Use can benefit your business.
Solar Power Commercial Use Site Considerations
Firstly, there are a few key criteria to consider when selecting a site for a solar electric system. You want to ensure a unobstructed southern exposure. This is crucial for a system to reach its full generating potential. For instances all types of shading should be avoided. As a result, you’ll need a minimum of 100 square feet of space for every 1,000 watts (1 kW) installed. Solar power commercial use systems can be installed on building rooftops. For instance, they can be integrated into a building’s exterior. In addition to ground-mounted to poles or racks. Delta Energy Solutions will ensure your solar installation meets legal requirements & building code regulations. After that, you will have a Solar Power Commercial Use System that it is correctly designed. And as a result maximize production that saves you money. One Watt at a time.
Commercial Solar Power
Solar power for instance is produced when there is sufficient sunlight falling onto your solar panel array. How it works is when the electricity is converted from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). This is done by an inverter. Above all the resulting flow is routed to your electric service through a special circuit allowing immediate use.
Because our installations are connected to the power grid, electricity is always available. However, when your production exceeds your demand, power is automatically “sold back” to the utility through net metering. Commercial solar power systems are installed with both a production meter, which monitors the amount of electricity produced from your solar array, and a net meter, which enables the energy sales to go both ways.

Solar Energy – How Does it Work?
Solar electricity: How does it work?
Solar energy would not be where it is today if it weren’t for the scientists in 1954. That is to say, during that year scientists at Bell Telephone uncovered the power of the sun. As a result of this discovery with silicon, an element found in sand. It created an electric charge when it was exposed to sunlight. As a result, this discovery led to the development of solar cells. Most importantly, the scientists learned that capturing the sun’s energy turned it into electricity. And since 1954, Solar Energy as a technology has evolved. Solar power systems now provide incredibly attractive financial benefits for residential and commercial businesses. In addition to the many non-profit agencies across Ontario and our great country of Canada.
Thanks to solar panels, we have access to an inexhaustible source of power, known as the sun. Throughout the day, the cells on your solar panels absorb the energy from sunlight. For instance circuits within the cells collect that energy and turn it into direct current (DC) electricity. And moreover, that DC electricity is passed through a device called an inverter to convert it to the alternating current (AC). This AC electricity is used by most homes and businesses. You can use that electricity in your home. Or you may wish to store it with a solar battery. Or you may send it back to the grid, putting credits on your electric bill.
Solar Panels
Solar panels collect and convert the sun’s energy into electricity. Therefore they are a key component of a solar panel system. Most commonly available panels today are either poly-crystalline or mono-crystalline solar panels.
The key differences between poly- and mono-crystalline panels are in efficiency and cost. Typically, mono-crystalline panels are more efficient (and thus more expensive) than poly-crystalline panels.
Racking and mounting systems
Racking and mounting systems are used to affix your solar panels either to your roof or to the ground. They also allow you to position your panels at an angle that is best for capturing the sun’s rays.
To perform at their best, solar panels should face south and be installed at an angle between 30 and 45 degrees. This will depend on how far you are from the equator. Panels facing east or west and at a pitch angle of five degrees or more will still work well. However will produce 10 to 20 percent less electricity than those installed under ideal conditions.
There are two types of mounts. These are known as fixed mounts, in which the panels remain stationary. The other is track mounts. These mounts allow panels to “follow” the sun. As it moves across the sky during the day (single-axis track mounts) and during the changing seasons (dual-axis track mounts). Track mounts are only suitable for panels installed on the ground.
Performance monitoring systems
Performance monitoring systems provide you with detailed information about the performance of your solar panel system. With a monitoring system, you can measure and track the amount of electricity your system produces on an hourly basis.
While some solar installers charge extra for installing a monitoring system, it can provide significant value over the lifetime of your solar panels. Monitoring systems help you identify any performance issues to ensure that you maximize the electricity production (and therefore the financial returns) of your solar panel system.
There are two types of monitoring systems known as On-Site Monitoring and Remote Monitoring. Firstly, with the On-site monitoring, the monitoring device is located on your property. And this device records the amount of electricity produced. Secondly, like the name suggests with Remote monitoring. Your solar panel system transmits its performance data to a monitoring service. As a result, this allows you to access your findings online or with a mobile device

Solar Energy Saves you Money
Save Money with Solar Energy
Solar panel systems help you save money. Solar Energy can protect you against rising utility costs. On average, Delta Energy Solution Solar Energy Clients achieve payback on their system in under six and a half years. Clients continue to save for the rest of their system’s 25+ year lifespan.
However, your 20-year solar savings depend on where you live. There are a few major factors that influence what you can save. There are a few major factors that influence what you can save:

Local financial incentives: The Canadian Government, along with our own Ontario Provincial Government offers numerous incentives. These incentives are in the form of cash rebates. They can also be used with tax credits. There are other Green Energy incentives such as SRECs, where you will save even more.

Solar financing: The initial upfront costs of solar may appear prohibitive. However, there are now a number of third party financing options available, allowing more people to access solar energy in their own homes.
Solar Leasing Options
The benefits leasing your solar energy system go beyond just the initial no up-front costs. Although you will not technically ‘own’ your solar energy system, your capital is not tied up in equipment and the monthly lease costs could be covered from your solar energy generation.
There are a number of companies in Ontario offering solar lease options, where for no-upfront costs and a fixed monthly fee, you can enjoy the benefits of solar energy.
However, it is important not be by lured by shiny lights and promises. You should conduct thorough research regarding your system’s potential solar generation vs. monthly lease costs, as well as payout options at the end of the lease. It may end up costing you more in the long run.
Bank Solar Finance
Many banks are now offering low-interest green loans aimed at customers installing solar energy systems on their homes. These type of loans often come with a loan repayment frequency aligned with your utility bill cycles and flexible term options. Several financial institutions in Canada are currently offering solar financing: check out TD Renewable Financing, Scotia Eco Energy Financing, and RBC Solar Panel Financing programs.

Net Metering – How it works?
Net Metering is a specialty for Delta Energy Solutions and the partners we work with. Since the Green Energy Act was launched in 2010 we have been involved in Ontario’s solar industry. The projects are of all shapes and sizes. In addition, we have been hands-on with our clients through every step of the way. Get connected now, there is no better time to begin saving money.

Solar Net Metering
How does it work with Solar Energy? Are you thinking of using a solar technology to generate your own electricity? For instance, is your goal to reduce your monthly hydro costs? Then Net metering might be the ideal solution for you after all.
The Net Metering program is available to anyone who generates electricity. For instances, do you use a renewable energy source primarily for your own? (wind, water, solar radiation or agricultural biomass) Are you using equipment with a total nameplate rating of 500 kW or les?
Combining existing microFIT systems and net metering systems.
Do you already have a microFIT system? If you do you can add a solar net metering system. As a result, you’ll get the best of both worlds. You can generate revenue from your microFIT investment AND generate electricity from your net metering system. This will reduce or eliminate your hydro bill.

Commercial EV Chargers – 4 Types
The 4 Types of Commercial EV Chargers
There are many different brands but only 4 main types, subsequently known as levels of the Commercial EV Chargers. As a result, each of these Station Installations are in used for specific uses. What is the right choice for you? Is it for a business, a commercial property, a hotel. Here at Delta Energy Solutions we can help you determine. For instance, of the 4 levels, certainly one is the better choice. These Commercial EV Chargers are:
- Level 1 – A level 1 AC charger is the equivalent of plugging an EV into a standard 120 volt outlet. While convenient and inexpensive to install these chargers take up to 12 hours to charge an average EV, which may be too long for some impatient EV owners.
- Level 2 – The level 2 charger also uses AC current but provides 240 volts instead of 120. As such they can recharge a standard EV in 3 to 5 hours rather than the 12 or so it would take with a level 1 charger. Level 2 chargers are popular because they’re relatively fast, widely compatible with many different EVs and relatively affordable to install.
- Level 3 – The level 3 charger is known as the “Fast Charger”. Typically you can recharge your EV in under and hour with a level 3 DC Fast Charger. If there’s a drawback it’s that they are considerably more expensive than other chargers and that, as of this writing, not compatible with all EVs
- Level 4 – The level 4 EV charger is made by Tesla specifically for their electric vehicles. There’s a proprietary plug that simply isn’t compatible with other makes and models of EVS and so you’d have to have a compelling reason to install a level 4 charger at your hotel.
Contact us now to schedule a site assessment and see which level of Commercial EV Chargers will best suit your business requirements. Our site assessment package includes a system design and estimate for you.
